The sequence of low-temperature phase transitions in the CsDy0.9Gd(Eu)0.1(MoO4)2 system

Abstract

Temperature dependences of relative changes in the sound velocities along the principal axes of the CsDy0.9Gd(Eu)0.1(MoO4)2 crystal are investigated in the region of the structural second-order phase transition at Tc ∼ 30 K. The absence of a noticeable softening of the transverse moduli indicates the nonferrodistortion type of the transition. Another structural first-order transition is detected in the temperature range between 27 and 24 K.
