Abstract

A considerable abrupt change (by ∼ 5–7%) in the sound velocity in gallium is observed experimentally in classically strong and weak magnetic fields. The effect is associated with a delay in the electron–phonon interaction and is apparently observed under the resonance coupling of elastic waves and intrinsic electromagnetic waves in the metal.
