Abstract
Ultimate strengths σmax for yttrium ceramic samples YBa2Cu3O7−δ under axial compression are measured. It is found that σmax correlates with pressure during pressing of pellets. Resistive and inductive measurements reveal an increase in Tc for yttrium ceramics under axial compression. The value of the derivative ∂Tc/∂p calculated for hydrostatic conditions lies between 0.6 and 0.9 K/kbar.
