Abstract
SYNOPSIS Pinus radiata is shown to be sensitive to soil moisture deficits, phosphate deficiency and Sphaeropsis sapinea infestation. Soil morphology, in particular, abrupt clay increases in the B horizon, poor drainage and low rooting volumes have adverse impacts on yields. Special attention is paid to South African conditions.
