Abstract

Symmetry analysis of the structural phase transition in KDy(MoO4)2 caused by the cooperative Jahn–Teller effect is carried out. Assuming the phase transition in KDy(MoO4)2 to be of second order, it is concluded that the spatial group of the dissymmetric phase is C2h5. It is shown that a long-periodic incommensurate structure must be induced under the action of an electric field in the vicinity of Tc, while an transition. The behavior of the elastic characteristics is studied experimentally in the region of the structural phase transition in an external magnetic field.
