Abstract

It is shown that the anomalous temperature dependence of magnetoelectric and magnetic susceptibilities of Ni–I boracite can be explained by using the Landau theory of phase transitions. The temperature anomalies include the sign reversal and a negative magnetoelectric susceptibility peak near the phase transition temperature and also a magnetic susceptibility minimum in the magnetically ordered phase.
