Abstract
The dependence of the rate of propagation of the avalanche (explosive) crystallization front on the thickness of amorphous bismuth films is studied. It is shown that avalanche crystallization cannot take place in amorphous films of ytterbium and bismuth on metal substrates. The obtained results are explained in the framework of the modern theory.
