Abstract

The theory of thermally activated motion of domain walls is used to consider the influence of crystal defects on the dynamics of phase boundaries (PB) in dysprosium orthoferrite. A comparison of the experimental and theoretical data shows that the defects are responsible for an exponential dependence of the velocity of PB on the magnetic field strength. The field dependence of the velocity of continuous motion of PB between defects is separated, and a good agreement is observed between this dependence and the dependence V(H) calculated within the framework of the theory, taking into account the transformation of DB in a magnetic field.
