Abstract

The magnetic properties of cobalt orotate single crystals are investigated and the crystallographic structure of the material is decoded. It is found that in the temperature region 2–20 K, cobalt orotate is a paramagnet with a considerable anisotropy of susceptibility. The values of energies of six Kramers doublets corresponding to the lower level of the Co ion are determined by using the crystal field model together with the crystal field constants corresponding to the experimental set of g-factors.
