Abstract

The results of experimental investigations of the lowest electronic excitation spectrum of Fe2+ ions in FeSiF6·6H2O crystal are presented. The lines corresponding to electronic transitions at 9.9, 14.0, and 47.6 cm−1 are detected by the Raman scattering method. The effect of an external magnetic field is studied and the low-energy levels of Fe2+ are found to be sensitive to the field orientation relative to the trigonal crystal axis.
