Abstract
A comparison of experimental results with the theory shows that the oxygen subsystem in a La2−x Srx. CuO4−δ crystal exhibits peculiar properties: it is noticeably disordered (20%) relative to copper and lanthanum atoms which have a practically perfect arrangement; the amplitude of thermal vibrations of oxygen atoms in a plane perpendicular to the [001] axis in La–Cu–O chains is much larger than the corresponding value for oxygen atoms in O–O chains.
