Abstract
We studied effect of a twist deformation at 4.2 K on the change of the critical current density jc over a wide range of magnetic fields. In relatively weak fields, a decrease of jc is found with increasing shear deformation, which we ascribe to enhanced thermomagnetic instability in plastic strain localization areas.
