Abstract

The dynamics of homogeneously broadened ring lasers supporting two transverse modes is numerically studied. The regimes with periodic and chaotic intensity pulsations have been obtained for lasers having both fast and slow-response relaxation of the population inversion. A phenomenon of metachaos has been found and statistical properties of metastable chaotic states and their dependence on system parameters have been studied.
