Abstract
Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) has been detected in YBa2Cu3O7–x films in the visible spectral range from 1.5 to 4.5 V (275–825 nm). The MCD spectrum correlates with the absorption spectrum, and its magnitude attains values up to (1–5)·10−4 T−1 at the extremal points. Superconducting and nonsuperconducting samples display different kinds of dispersion and temperature dependences of MCD. For all the investigated samples, the magnetic field dependence of MCD has the form aH+b right up to 7 T, where the coefficient a depends on the temperature and wavelength at which observations were made, while the constant b is equal to zero within the error 2 · 10−5.
