Abstract

Abstract The echo-pulse method was applied to measure anomalous changes in elastic constants at the ferroelastic phase transition in K2ZnCl4 crystals. The phonon focusing directions as a function of temperature were determined. The shape of the C eff surfaces is a consequence of the linear and bilinear coupling between strain and order parameter.
