Abstract

Magnetic investigations of KEr(MoO4)2 have been carried out at low temperatures. A structural phase transition associated with cooperative Jahn–Teller effect and induced by an external magnetic field (Hc∼40 kOe) has been discovered. The experimental data are used to estimate the correlation parameter A of Jahn–Teller distortions.
