Abstract

Thermal conductivity of argon crystals with nitrogen impurity is measured in the temperature range 2–20 K for impurity molecule concentrations between 0.05 and 1. The additional thermal conductivity associated with nitrogen impurity is proportional to T–2 for a linear concentration dependence. Possible mechanisms of phonon scattering by impurity are discussed.
