Abstract

Concentration dependences of the yield stress as well as the local magnetization and spectroscopic splitting factor are measured (with the help of ferromagnetic resonance) in metallic glasses Fe100−xBx (x = 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20) under axial tension. A singularity in these properties is observed at the eutectic composition (x = 17). The observed singularity is attributed to a very large disordering of the atomic structure at the cluster boundaries in the metallic glass Fe83B17 caused by the specific structure of its clusters.
