Abstract

We have investigated numerically the thermal recovery of the large aperture multi-segment amplifiers in the paper. With AMPHR3D, which is a three-dimensional transient finite element heat transfer code, the temperature of Nd:glass slab is investigated in detail. Preliminary thermal analysis indicates that active cooling with 4. 7 X 10-3m3s-l per flash lamp in lamp cassette cooperated with 7. 6 X 10-3m3s-l per slab cavity is suffficient to meet the 4hour shot period of the laser system.
