The Practice and Perspectives of Free Access to the Legal Information of Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Abstract
The present article covers the practice and perspectives of free access for the public of Uzbekistan to legal resources.The article presents current results of the project accomplished by the Open Library for Legal Information supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the national representative of the Soros Foundation.The project is aimed at the implementation of the organizational and methodological program on supporting the Public Centers for Legal Information (PCLI) by regional libraries of Uzbekistan.For the first time in the history of a libraries of the Central Asian region, these centers are urged to build a realistic environment, to maintain a free and equal access to lawful information for everyone, including distant and disadvantaged communities in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
