Abstract

This paper discusses a method of forming an autostereoscopic image, in which a cylindrical light wave passes through a controllable optical transparency and converges to a vertical band of light in the viewing zone. The band of light, displaced in the horizontal direction, is directed in turn into the viewer's eyes. In this case, images for the viewer's left and right eye are reproduced in turn on the controllable optical transparency. A one-dimensional diffuser that scatters light only in the vertical direction is placed up against the controllable optical transparency. © 2005 Optical Society of America
