Abstract
An experience of operation of a laser mass spectrometer of multiply charged ions has shown an almost complete self-recovery of the transparency of a focusing lens (chamber window). Spectra of multiply charged ions from a W target recorded at laser-radiation-power densities on the surfaces of the lens and target of 2.5 × 106–1.2 × 107 and 2 × 1010–1012 W/cm2, respectively, do not change substantially even after 105 laser shots thanks to the self-recovery of the lens transparency.
