Abstract

Using the seeds of mulberry cv.Guiyou62 as the experiment material, the study investigated effects of PEG-simulated water stress on its seed germination and physiological and biochemical indicators. The seeds were cultured by shake cultivation in solutions containing PEG at 30%,25% and 20%,with deionized water as the control. Then the contents of proline, soluble protein, soluble glycoprotein and malonaldehyde of the material were measured to evaluate its drought resisting ability of the material. The differences between the 30% PEG treatment and the control were highly significant statistically. These results provided physiological and biochemical basis for selection in resistance breeding of mulberry.
