Synthesis of sevoflurane

Abstract

OBJECTIVE To design a new synthetic route of sevoflurane.METHODS Bis(Hexafluoroisopropanol) formaldehyde derivatives(3)were sythesized from hexa fluoroiso propanol and metaformaldehyde in the presence of concentrated oid of vitriol,3 was combined with Aluminum trichloride to produce chloromethyl-2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(triflnoromethyl) ethyl ether(4),4was combined with potassium fluoride to produce sevoflurane(5).RESULTS Sevoflurane were sythesized.The overall yeild was 64.1% and its purity was more than 99%.CONCLUSION This synthetic route of sevoflurane had the features of simple process,lower cost and industrialization marufacture.
