The causes of the destruction of the insulating structures LC-120/500 and LC-160/500 in quantity of 18 units under construction of overhead line 500 kV were researched. It has been shown that the bulk of the destruction occurred in the glass of ferrules of insulator as a fissure of fiberglass rod at the bottom of a glass in front of the sharp edges of the bottom of the glass of ferrules.
