A Preliminary Study on Selection of Excellent Families from Liquidambar formosana

Abstract

This study is based on the field experiment of progeny test from 14 families of Liquidambar formosana on the Qujiang Forest Farm in Guangdong province. The results of the variance analysis showed that there were significant differences among the base diameter of 0.5 year-old tree(P0.05), and the height and the base diameter between 1.5 and 3.5 year-old(P0.01). The differences of height growth in 0.5 year-old tree was not significant. According to the analysis result, three superior families, MZDB505, MZPY504 and FXMPY0901 were tentatively selected.
