Abstract

ZnO wires were fabricated using microwave evaporation method. Microstructure investigations by Scanning Electron Microscopy showed that wires consist of ZnO nanostructures which are interconnected. The crystallinity of nanostructures was characterized using X-ray diffractometry. It was found that ZnO nanostructures had mostly wurtzite structure. Uv-visible spectroscopy revealed absorbance up 380nm. Prepared samples were utilized in gas sensors. It was found that highly porous ZnO nanostructured wires have high sensitivity to natural gas. Results were discussed.
