MANUSCRIPTS OF NAVOI 'S DIVANS KEPT IN THE MAIN FUND OF THE INSTITUTE OF ORIENTAL STUDIES

Abstract

This article presents to a comparative and typological study of about 160 manuscripts of divans by Alisher Navai, which are stored in the Main Fund of the Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. By this study, the author demonstrates highly-valued divans were copied for 500 years in various regions of the historical Maverannahr and Khorasan. The magnificent poetry of Navai was patronized by the influential people of their time, and it had many admirers, followers, and fans. The wealthy community of the Islamic East patronized the production of Navoi’s divans.
