Abstract
The present article deals with the investigation of role of phonetic processes in the formation of ethnonyms in Germanic and Turkic languages.As we know analysing the ethnonyms demands some background knowledge on the history, geography, culture and socio-economical features of the ethnic groups to which the name belonged appeared.To be more exact, any name, place name, name of a tribe, etc. contains some basic information about the time, place, period and situation when and why term (name) appeared.
