Abstract

A direct euphemism is used instead of a taboo word or phrase. In Chinese and Uzbek traditions, romantic relationships between men and women are also taboo. This article provides a comparative study of euphemisms in Chinese and Uzbek linguoculture that express romantic relationships, in particular, sex, extramarital affairs, and non-traditional sexual relations.\n\n
