Abstract
This article is devoted to a critical examination of the existing conceptual apparatus, preconditions and approaches to the interpretation of material on the subject of research. It is noted that the importance of pedagogical diagnostics was recognized by all scientists and teachers of the past. Their works reveal various components of the content of the teacher's diagnostic activity, but they do not reveal the essence of the very concept of "pedagogical diagnostics". The scientific understanding of this term became possible due to the further development of the human sciences.\n\n\n
