Abstract

Abstract: Today, cognitive disorders are associated with diabetes mellitus (Diabetes), the increase in the incidence of which in recent years has become an epidemic. One of the targets of the influence of hyperglycemia is the central nervous system, which manifests itself in clinical cognitive impairment. Clinically significant cognitive impairments lead to impaired work and social adaptation, as well as to a decrease in the quality of life. Cognitive impairments in patients with diabetes reduce the ability to adequately control hyperglycemia and increase the risk of complications leading to early disability. Studying the connection between cognitive impairment and diabetes may help to find one of the ways preventing the increase in the incidence of dementia, which, according to some experts, has a chance to become the main "epidemic" of the 21st century.
