Abstract. The article presents the results of anamnesis and clinical observation of 272 mothers in a hospital setting, of which 83 mothers had children born prematurely with low body weight relative to the gestational age (group 1); 102 mothers were full-term, but with low body weight (group 2). The control group consisted of 87 women, whose newborns were born at term and the body weight corresponded to the gestational age
