The results of surgical treatment of child with left main bronchus congenital stenosis complicated with low lobe bronchoectasis
Abstract
The article describes the results of treatment of a patient diagnosed with congenital stenosis of the left main bronchus, complicated by chronic pneumonia. The patient underwent surgery - thoracotomy, resection of the stenotic portion of the left main bronchus with an end-to-end anastomosis. The patient was diagnosed with bronchiectasis of the lower lobe of the left lung due to a malformation of the bronchi. This technique is preferable in children, because allows for organ-preserving surgery. The result of congenital left main bronchus stenosis complicated with chronic pneumonia’s treatment was given in this article. The patient has been performed – thoracotomy, stenosed left main bronchus resection with “end-to-end” anastomosis. It was found bronchoectasis in low lobe on the left main bronchus in the background of congenital bronchus abnormalities. This method is preferable in children because it gives possibility to perform organ saving operation.
