Abstract
In the historical aspect, in the West, medicine is considered as the science of human diseases and their treatment. In the East, medicine is more likely to be considered as a science of human health. These definitions show the difference in individual views on medicine and medical problems in general. There is also a compromise definition of medicine as the science of human health and diseases. In modern conditions, medicine is a system of scientific knowledge and everyday practical activities, the purpose of which is to preserve and improve people’s health, timely detection and quality treatment of diseases.
