Abstract

Using the time dependent nucleation theory, the temperature dependences of the heterogeneous nucleation time for multicomponent substitution solid solutions, the formation of which is typical for high-entropy alloys in Al–Co–Cr–Fe–Ni systems obtained by laser alloying, were calculated. It is established that taking into account the melt cooling rate leads to an increase in the minimum nucleation time. The cooling rates at which the BCC (B2) and FCC phases critical radius nucleus not formed are estimated. The intervals of melt cooling rates in which the formation of single-phase BCC (B2) - or two-phase (BCC (B2) + FCC) - alloys is estimated. The influence of chemical composition on the change of these cooling rates is analyzed.
