Abstract

An analysis of the receiving chambers of the picking apparatus of vertical spindle cotton harvesters is considered in the article. The suction chambers of the slot type are analyzed. Based on the ANSYS FLUENT 2020 software package for the serial receiving chamber of cotton harvesters, the loss of raw cotton falling from the receiving chamber to the ground was determined depending on the change in the airflow rate in the lower part of the receiving chamber and on the change in the suction airflow capacity. It was determined that the serial receiving chamber increases the loss of cotton to the ground when the air flow rate in the lower part of the receiving chamber is less than 6 m/s. Cotton losses to the ground increase when the suction airflow capacity of a receiving chamber is less than 0.5 m3/s. Based on the kinetics of the process of cotton localemotion, a new U-shaped receiving chamber was developed using the ANSYS FLUENT 2020 software package.
