FEATURES OF THYROID FUNCTION IN WOMEN WITH SUBCLINICAL HYPOTHYROIDISM TREATED WITH LEVOTHYROXINE DURING PREGNANCY
Abstract
Summary. In this study, we examined the pattern of thyroid function in women with subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) treated with levothyroxine (LT4) throughout pregnancy and determined the optimal dosage of LT4 for these women. Subclinical hypothyroidism during pregnancy is especially dangerous because it does not manifest itself, and, therefore, the consequences can be the most severe. Нypothyroidism is an underactive thyroid gland. Subclinical hypothyroidism is characterized by the absence of symptoms, but at the same time, tests signal an increase in TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone of the pituitary gland - it is he who is responsible for regulating the secretion of thyroid hormones). Therefore, it is very important to take all the tests prescribed by the doctor on time, because timely and correct treatment can prevent the consequences of hypothyroidism. It is women who are most susceptible to the appearance of subclinical hypothyroidism. We studied reproductive complications in three compared groups, such as: SORP, miscarriage, stillbirth, the birth of small children, mental retardation, etc.
