Abstract
This scientific article is devoted to the activities of the documentary film operator in the creation of documentary and popular science films, his skills. It explores the creative work of the cameraman in the field of documentary film and the composition of documentary footage, as well as his skill with light and color. At the same time, the article examines the features of documentary cinema as a separate direction of cinematography, the features of the shooting process over the visual style of the film, the features of working on portraits of heroes, as well as shooting interviews.
