SURGICAL TREATMENT OF LUMBAR DISC HERNIATION IN ELDERLY PATIENTS

Abstract

The article describes the data of examination and surgical treatment of 140 elderly patients with lumbar disc herniation. The contingent of patients was aged 60 to 85 years. Clinical neurological and instrumental methods of research were conducted in the preoperative period using X-ray, CT and MRT. The results of surgical interventions results were obtained in – 89 satisfactory -55 and unsatisfactory- in 6 patients. The findings indicated polysegmental nature of the pathological process in elderly and senile ages. Good results were achieved during hemilaminectomic access in surgical procedures.
