Abstract

The article studies the semantic peculiarities of lexeme “hand” in English, their roles in the\nspeech act as well as it’s stylistic features. Human body undoubtedly has been the most important\ncognitive status in human being’s cognition. One of the most important theoretical and practical\nresults of recent lexicological research is the structural principle of the organization of this dictionary.\nThe principle of systematic organization is observed in the relationship between the components of\nlexical-semantic association. It contains a special word, the semantic structure of which fully reflects\nthe common semantic features of all members of this grouping. The remaining words included in this\nlexical-semantic system occupy a subordinate position in the hierarchical stage of the components.\nThe principle of structure is also important in the organization of a dictionary. This paper will, to a\ncertain degree, be helpful to the vocabulary and rhetoric teaching in English.\n
