Abstract
This article includes the researcher's standpoint on the ethnic composition of the population of the Emirate of Bukhara in the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries. It basically, deals with the administrative-territorial structure of the Emirate of Bukhara, its population, population structure, the territory of ethnic groups, the language of communicatio. Furthemore, the author of the article paid special attention to the role of the Zarafshan valley in the study of the ethnic composition and ethno-toponyms of the population of the Bukhara emirate in the early twentieth century.
