Abstract

the article describes historical, ethnographic and socio-cultural features of Uzbek national folk games and performances, formed in the course of a long historical development and inherited from ancestors. Family ceremonies, national sports held at public events, folk games and performances were studied on the basis of some historical and ethnographic sources as well as archeological materials. Historical roots of folk games and performances, including national sports like " “kurash”, "kupkari”, racing," horse games", have been revealed, emphasizing their socio-spiritual significance. The article also proposes the measures to revive the national sports in Uzbekistan taking into consideration the process of globalization and rapid changes in the world. It also emphasizes the need to pass the national sports on to future generations and to increase the global prestige of the Uzbek national sport "Kurash". It describes the need to further improve the work in this area, taking into consideration historical traditions and experiences of our ancestors. Based on historical traditions of our ancestors, promoting of the traditional, spiritual cultural masterpieces of the Uzbek people in the context of rapid reforms in society is a necessity.
