Abstract
This article presents the importance of legal English, which is the main language of law in a number of developed countries, and the history of its development. It also reveals the enormous influence of Latin and French on Legal English over the centuries with vivid examples. The author focuses on the linguistic features of legal English, including lexical aspects. In this regard, the results of research conducted by foreign linguists were studied. Moreover, the essence of archaisms, technical terms, foreign words, synonyms, and repetitions that are widely used in Legal English is described.
