THE STUDY OF FUNCTIONING OF THE PASSIVE VOICE IN JAPANESE AND THE METHODS OF TEACHING IT IN UZBEKISTAN - Focusing on the textbook Minnano nihongo –
Abstract
Abstract The passive voice in Japanese is used in four functions: "target passive- 対象受身", "tentative passive - 視点受身", "damaging passive - 被害受身" and "profitable passive- 恩恵受身". In the course of the study, the methodology of teaching the Japanese language to first-year students of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies was studied based on the use of the textbook "Minnano Nihongo".\n\n\n          The essence of the passive voice was explained to the students during the class using examples from the aforementioned textbook. These examples have been analyzed in order to show the specifics of the "passive voice" of the Japanese language.\n\n\n         Analysis of the study and the use of examples given in the textbook showed that not only grammatical differences between Uzbek (native) and Japanese influenced the correct understanding, but also the understanding of the four functions of the passive voice, such as "target passive", "tentative passive", "Damaging passive" and "profitable passive", had an impact on the development of this category.\n\n\nThe test results conducted among Uzbek students who completed the first year showed that 58.3% gave correct answers. This, in turn, showed that more than half of Uzbek students could understand the difference between the verb forms of courteous speech, passive voice, as well as modal forms of the used verbs.\n\n\nBased on the analysis, as well as on the experience of teaching the functions of the passive voice, it is proposed to use an interactive teaching method and lesson plan, which focus on improving the understanding and assimilation of the material by students. For this, it is recommended to use a  communicative approach to teaching, as well as a more flexible use of the teaching material.
