Abstract

Abstract: Purpose The aim of the study was to develop proposals and recommendations to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with Covid-19 with concomitant cardiovascular pathology. Age and cardiovascular comorbidities are independent factors in mortality and intensive care unit hospitalization in patients with COVID-19. The high prevalence of arterial hypertension (AH) in older people with coronary or heart failure explains the high prevalence of hypertension among patients hospitalized with severe COVID-19. As a leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease, hypertension is a bedrock of cardiovascular comorbidities that contributes to the development of severe forms of COVID-19.
