The article presents information about the history of the Central Asian khanates, in particular the Emirate of Bukhara, and research in this area. It is noted that the topic remains relevant, that it is widely studied not only in Uzbekistan, but also by historians of Russia and Central Asia. In this regard, the study of the history of the Khan period in Russian and Central Asian historiography is analyzed. Although some of them have various disagreements and differences, they also contain a lot of valuable information on the political, economic, social and cultural history of the khanates, international relations, analysis of military and diplomatic relations, etc. Conducting a comparative analysis of them from the point of view of historiography is of great importance for more complete and comprehensive study of the history of Central Asia.
