Abstract

Abstract. The article presents theoretical ideas about the sphere of expression, the lexeme's content, and its implementation at the lexico-grammatical level. Opinions about the semantics of units of onomastic status among words with independent meanings are analyzed regarding the presence/absence of a referential base. Word functions are classified as: descriptive, deictic, modal, dynamic, and cumulative, about the main-nominative function; two types of nominative meaning are distinguished: modal and propositional features of realization.\n\n\nThe features of the word's connection with other units of the language level are considered in the example of causality in functional grammar, cause in the cognitive-pragmatic aspect, and the corresponding conclusions are drawn.
