Abstract
Due to the fact that rock paintings are located in open areas, due to natural and anthropogenic factors, the problem of their preservation is considered an important and urgent task. The article examines the issues of preservation and documentation of rock paintings, especially in recording petroglyphs, using a method that does not damage their outer surface, i.e. does not affect it by hand. The most effective method of recording color images is the pigment card method, that is, the image obtained by graphic processing of the photo image is considered. The possibilities of graphic processing of photo images are revealed through the DStretch module of the ImageJ program, which is used by researchers.
