Abstract
Oral vocabulary and phraseology form a significant layer of the vocabulary of the Russian language and are of great interest to philologists as linguistic units involved in the process of formation and development of the language. The article examines obsolete words and wellestablished combinations that form discrepancies in the lexical and semantic field, and also determines the degree of use and function of obsolete words and expressions recorded in the explanatory and phraseological dictionaries of the Russian language of the last century. The classification of units by lexico-semantic fields and thematic groups and subgroups is given. Tao interprets the examples given and notes their linguistic features.
